Science and faith

In the last number of Scientific American there is a debate about “Science and faith”, the exact title is: “Should Science Speak to Faith?”. As the radical atheist I am becoming I think this is a perverse proposition because of several reasons.

“Speaking” to faith is not a science responsibility, is the obligation of the society as a whole to leave the religion apart as a costume of the past. The religion is the ignorance permanence in our days. And all of us have to teach and learn and escape its ties.

Science and religion are not opposite nor enemies. Science is not a face of the coin and religion the other one. Religion and faith are at the level of Mickey Mouse or Superman, mind´s fantasies. If we think religion and science are at the same level we have already made a mistake.

Science brings knowledge and reason where the religion and faith only has darkness ignorance, and so all the religions have fought so hard. Science attacks the very bottom of the religion base: imaginative ignorance and credulity. But science is not a religion enemy, it the enemy of all the ignorance, and, as a result, is the enemy of religion.

I know religion is going to exist for some time. I´d like to take part in a shinto ceremony or a ancient Greek ritual. But this is just an activity empty of content for the very pleasure of aesthetic. I don´t mind is people wants to go to church or to the bridge club or to a football match. For me are the same. I do not see any reason for the religion freedom, the secrecy of the religion faith, and so and so. I know there is going to be religious people, but I can´t stand we have a legal framework for them. It´s like having a legal framework for social dance clubs or football equipments preferences.
